I need to buy luggage and I’m in a hurry. I don’t have a great deal of time to do research and I’m not familiar with the common brands. What do I do?
A few cursory searches take me to online stores with plenty of variety, but it’s hard to filter out the unsuitable items. Maybe I’ll just go into a shop and see for myself. Google Maps brings up plenty of specialist stores in central London, but few have their own websites and it’s not easy to determine what end of the market they cater for.
Just as I start to feel as if this is going to take far longer than I anticipated, I stumble across the perfect search result: the John Lewis Luggage Buying Guide. Here, common questions are answered in a layout that isn’t intimidating. Although there’s a considerable amount of text, the user friendly accordion interface hides all that you’re not interested in.
The copy is concise and honest. There are links through to other parts of the website, but it never feels like you’re being sold to. This page evidently has one purpose: to inform users.
Knowledge is proven through explanation. If you can clearly communicate a subject to someone, you can gain their trust and confidence. Through their short and simple guide, John Lewis have shown me they know what they’re talking about so I feel confident that when I go to astore, I’ll find what I want.
