I began my career as a Marketer for an Internet Service Provider in the mid 90’s. The internet was still in its infancy with narrowband access and a dearth of useful content.
I spent most of the dot com years as UK Business Development Director for Rare Medium, a NASDAQ quoted Digital Agency and Venture Capital firm based out of New York. Rare provided an incredible opportunity to be at the cutting edge of online, from building new dot com companies through to digital branding and e-commerce platforms.
It was at Rare that I first became exposed to user-centred design with the set up of our ‘Behavioural Science Unit’. At that time, bringing users into the design process was seen as a radical innovation and for me personally it was a real light bulb moment: a ‘right-first-time’ approach that saved time and money and improved performance.
This experience led me to set up fhios in 2002, an agency specialising in usability testing. After selling my stake in fhios, I joined the management team at Foolproof in 2006 taking responsibility for client services and business development strategy.
Today, I head up Flow as Managing Partner, taking responsibility for establishing the Flow brand as a source of practice leading interaction design and as a leading voice in the experience design community globally.
