James Brindley

Junior Designer

In my role as Junior Designer at Foolproof I formulate intuitive, creative ideations solidly grounded in research which successfully marry business and user requirements. My days are spent analysing systems and interfaces which facilitate user experience and translating these learnings into visualised design solutions.

I believe we as humans are inherent storytellers. Narratives are not only at the foundation of our belief systems, they are our linear dissection of events, ideas and lives - synthesising complex information into coherent constructs. Creating a successful, logical and experiential narrative to explore allows for greater immersion, understanding, engagement and reaction. These concepts form the core of my creative design philosophy, and their implementation is what I believe catalyses meaningful user experience and interaction.

I started off on the creative path as an Illustrator, having freelanced on everything from printmaking to supergraphics and animation. During my time at University I transitioned into the design world, and then into the ever-shifting landscape of digital.

Illustration remains a core passion of mine, but what drew me to product design was the user interaction with my work - conceiving that world in which people participate, navigate through and build a relationship with is my favourite part of what I do.

Outside of work you’ll either find me scoping things out for one of my many collections (blues vinyl records, design magazines, any small run of illustrative screenprints etc.), reading books on Cocktails or skating around the city… or down the pub.
