Orla Hennessy

Principal Consultant

As a Principal Consultant, it’s my job is to ensure that an understanding of customer needs and business objectives in the context of the wider market is at the core of everything we do. My role can take on many guises including formative or evaluative user research, journey mapping, persona creation, sketching and prototyping. Ultimately, for me, it’s about putting the customer at the centre of our thought process and using evidence to drive our creativity and design process.
In my time at Foolproof I have led research and design projects across the financial, retail, travel, entertainment and automotive sectors. The variety of clients I work with has given me the opportunity to work in many locations both across the UK and internationally.
Before joining Foolproof, I spent three years client-side working for a global technologies company designing interfaces for self-service and assisted-service products. This role taught me the value of creating systems that are simple, intuitive and make customers’ lives easier.
I have a Masters degree in Human Computer Interaction and Ergonomics, which gave me a solid grounding in experience design and many of the hard skills needed to work in UX. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Multimedia, which has helped me develop skills in the conceptual, creative and technological dimensions of multimedia production. This included video and sound production, digital photography, graphic and web design.
I enjoy solving problems in creative ways and this is what brought me to Foolproof. I love that every project I take on is interesting and different from the last. I’m always trying to grow and improve and relish the opportunities I have at Foolproof to work as a part of multidisciplinary teams. There’s plenty of opportunity to learn from those around me and pick up new skills.
Having grown up beside the seaside in Ireland, I love to get out and about in the fresh air when I'm not in work. I try to get out of London every other weekend and explore the UK. Recently I’ve made it my mission to explore the beaches and seaside towns of the southeast. I’m also a fan of making trips further afield, having recently returned from Costa Rica, I’m already planning my next adventure!
