"I use research, data, best practice, and just a sprinkle of magic to find the right words that make interfaces work for users."

I put high-quality content at the core of user experience. I use research, data, best practice, and just a sprinkle of magic to find the right words that make interfaces work for users. I'm involved at every stage of the design process, through discovery, prototyping, testing, and beyond.

Putting the words on a page is the easy part of being a Senior UX writer - if you’ve done everything else properly. By the time I put pen to paper (or fingers to keys) I understand the user needs, business needs, and wider context. I work collaboratively and iteratively with researchers and designers to create effective headlines, calls to action, and everything in between.

Before Foolproof, I worked at a series of fintech startups building the next generation of digital products to help people get better with money, including Nutmeg and Chip. Most recently, I was part of the team creating Multiply, the UK’s first financial advice app.

I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until 2017 - when I was working as a Marketing Copywriter - that a friendly UX designer approached me to ask for some help with his wireframes. I learnt on the job, then took some time out for some formal training, and made the switch to UX writing soon after.

Outside of work, you can generally find me hiking up a hill, sailing out to sea, hunting down a new veggie restaurant, or lurking in one of London’s glorious theatre pubs.
